Thankyou for the present – especially for the spirit in which it was sent (as the man said about the brandy-cherries) – I only minded your suggestion that Switzerland was more civilized than England because you could get better dinners & drink wine there!
You must certainly do F.S. for the Oxf: Hist – if only to counteract (I forget his name)1
