Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to John Burnaby

Letter No.:
[About 10 June 1923]

13 Cheyne Walk

Dear Burnaby,1

Thankyou v. much for your letter
I thought the way you all invented the dances & interpreted the music was wonderful - both in the idea & precision with which it was carried out -  Every gesture fitted the music exactly - which I have very seldom seen in a ballet.  I shd like to thank every one concerned most heartily
Please keep the Vn copy - may I have the score & parts to keep myself?
Yrs sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams

1. Later Regius Professor of Divinity at Cambridge.
2. The ballet Old King Cole had been performed in Nevile’s Court, Trinity College Cambridge on 5th June. See VWL515 and Catalogue of Works 1923/2.
