Dear Lucy

You ought to have found Ralph’s letter in that pile – for he had written.  He wrote to you feeling very troubled at your criticisms & his writing was specially illegible so he asked me to copy it – It is so horrid to have a copy but I have done as he asked me but I enclose a page of original script to show you that he did write himself – O how vexatious these printing mistakes are – The next edition must set some things right.
